Individual Therapy

An individual therapy session should be a place for you to talk openly and express yourself without judgment. My role is to guide you and to help you reach your goals in life. Often times we feel bombarded or overwhelmed with our lives and/or emotions that it is hard to see a way out. I’m here to remind you that there is always a way out. We have more power over our emotions and outcomes in our life than we give ourselves credit for and end up settling and telling ourselves that it will always be this way. It is not true, do not let yourself feel this way for one more day.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is recognized as one of the most widely used evidenced based type of psychotherapy. Through the use of CBT, you can learn to focus on solutions by challenging your thoughts and emotions. In doing so this can change your behavior. Our thoughts and emotions lead to our behavior and although that may sound simple, there is a lot tied into how and why we believe the things we believe. Often times our thoughts and emotions are not accurate and lead us to decisions or outcomes that we do not desire.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)

Dialectical Behavior Therapy is also a type of cognitive (talk) therapy that was originally created to treat Borderline Personality disorder. However, it is now more widely used as it has found to be highly effective in treating individuals  by teaching skills in emotion regulation, stress tolerance, mindfulness, communication skills, self esteem building and relationships. In addition, it teaches individuals that there are multiple perspectives and different ways of seeing situations in life that often lead to happier outcomes.
