Adolescent therapy can help individuals and families understand and resolve problems, modify behavior, and make positive changes in their lives.
Is your adolescent struggling with anxiety, depression, connection or addiction? The strategies and modalities I use to treat these individuals can often significantly improve their day-to-day functioning, happiness and connection. Some of the specific modalities I use with these populations include talk therapy, CBT, DBT, EMDR, and somatic interventions. These techniques have been proven to be effective in the treatment of adolescent difficulties.
Specifically, some of the core skills taught are;
Mindfulness techniques.
Grounding exercises.
Deep belly breathing.
Emotion regulation, where they will begin to recognize their emotions and learn the purpose their emotions have.
Stress management techniques.
Somatic interventions to increase awareness of their body and how they can calm themselves through the body.
Self worth and Image skills.
Increase positive body image and acceptance of self.
Interventions to manage and address past trauma.
Communication skills.
